Excellent Intel Gaming/Streaming Build




Description


CPU

At this budget, we're running the Alder Lake i5-12600K. The 12600K features 6 Performance-cores with Hyperthreading, 4 Efficient-cores, and will perform exceptionally well with all your gaming needs. Since it is an excellent overclocker we have added the ARCTIC Freezer 34 eSports DUO to the build. This is an excellent air cooler that will allow an overclock without overheating or becoming noisy. Motherboard

We're using a parametric filter to constantly select the best-priced motherboard while meeting selected criteria. In this case, we are filtering for Z690 chipsets for its enabled overclocking - the i5-12600k can't be fully overclocked on the H or B chipsets. The parametric filter also checks for 4 DDR4 DIMM slots for future expansion. The compatibility engine will filter out anything not compatible with the build. The motherboards are also capable of using the CPU's integrated GPU in case you need to RMA your GPU or are waiting for a sale or upgrade.

Memory

We are filtering for a 2x8GB kit of DDR4 RAM with a speed of at least DDR4-3200 and maximum Cas latency of 16 as the i5-12600K scales well with faster memory. Since the parametric filter picks the lowest priced option available (regardless of color/design), click the "From parametric filter" link to view other options that might better suit your aesthetic preference. Storage We're using parametric filters to incorporate an NVME M.2 SSD with at least 1TB of space. Everyone's storage needs differ so feel free to add or remove capacity as needed.

GPU

For our GPU, the AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT is one of the better price for performance cards on the market. The RX 6700 XT will provide a consistent 60fps on many demanding games like PUBG at Ultra at 1080p, and even 1440p for some games like Apex Legends. It'll also handle Fortnite with zero issues. For those interested in VR, this card will have no problem playing any and and all applications currently on the market.

Case

All of our components are housed in the NZXT H510 Flow. This case features a clean design and a large tinted tempered glass side panel. It includes one USB3 Type-A port, one USB3 Type-C port, a mesh front panel for excellent airflow, and a number of cable management holes and tie-offs to help your build look cleaner.

PSU

For our power supply, we're using a parametric selection of well-reviewed semi or fully modular units, all of which are 80+ Gold certified or above and can provide plenty of power for this build. Operating System For the best performance and fewest issues you will want to use Windows 11. The i5-12600K has a combination of Performance-cores and Efficient-cores that Windows 11 is designed to handle and will send specific tasks to the appropriate types of cores. Windows 10 does not have this functionality and may cause issues with system stability and operation.

Note: The ARCTIC Freezer 34 eSports DUO CPU Cooler may require a separately available mounting adapter to fit the ASRock Z690 Phantom Gaming 4 ATX LGA1700 Motherboard.


Note: The ASRock Z690 Phantom Gaming 4 ATX LGA1700 Motherboard has an additional 4-pin ATX power connector but the Thermaltake Toughpower GF1 PE 750 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply does not. This connector is used to supply additional 12V current to the motherboard. While the system will likely still run without it, higher current demands such as extreme overclocking or large video card current draws may require it.
